TRAINING

Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Explorer Training is offered year round in each of the five Districts of the Cape Fear Council. Training Teams offer a range of programs to make sure every adult leader and youth has the proper training to be prepared for their role in Scouting.

The following events are held Council wide to offer training for those who might not be able to make District Events. In addition, Council wide training events such as Wood Badge and Pow Wow offer continuing education for all.

*Cub Scout BB Gun and Archery Certification will be held Saturday, September 19th (Fall Parent Son Weekend Session I) at Camp McNeill from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. There is not cost to attend, however, we ask that either Email to mcgarry@wilmington.net or that you call (910)395-1100 ext. 11 and let us know if you are planning to attend. We will need the correct spelling of your name so that certification cards can be printed prior to your arrival.

*Cub Scout Basic Leader Training will be available both Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, October 24 (Fall Parent Son Weekend Sessions II & III) from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Camp McNeill. There is no cost to attend, and the only prerequisite is that the student complete the Cub Scout Fast Start program which is available through the Cape Fear Council Office and through District Roundtables.

*Cub Scout Pow Wow will be held Saturday, November 7th at Camp McNeill from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Pow Wow is advanced Cub Scout Leader Training that provides a round robin of training courses including topics such as "The Outdoor Program", "Arts and Crafts", "Skits and Songs", and others.

*The Cape Fear Council, Boy Scouts of America will host a Wood Badge Training Course in the Spring of 1999. Led by Scoutmaster Joe Hack, the course is the next level of Boy Scout Adult Leader Training after Scoutmastership Fundamentals.

The tentative dates for the Wood Badge Training course in 1999 are: February 19-21, March 5-7, and March 19-21. For more information on Wood Badge, please contact Joe Hack at 962-3100.
